Abstract

Touch is a sense present from birth in all mammals. Specific CT afferent fibers connected to the hair follicles transmit a pleasant touching sensation to the skin. The caresses are memorized in insular and limbic structures involving memory and emotions. Touch, whether through massage or the mediation of natural mineral water, strengthens the psycho-affective bond between the person and their immediate environment, associating an emotional tone. The repetition of pleasant treatments leads to a feeling of well-being throughout the spa treatment. This experience of repeated cares contributes to letting go, a determining factor in the success of a spa treatment. The memorization of this sensory sequence can be activated at a later time when caring with chronic pain phenomena outside the spa.
Key words : CT fibers, emotional touch, letting go, spa treatment, chronic pain.
